The OSMI Initiators are the founding members of the initiative: the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research, Université de Lorraine, UNESCO, Inria, SPARC Europe, PLOS and the Berlin Institute of Health (BIH) at Charité.
The OSMI Initiators group is a temporary governance structure. They are volunteers who are contributing their time and expertise to help kick-start efforts for OSMI before a full governance structure is established, which represents various stakeholders and regions of the world. This temporary structure is replaced by the Steering board from 2026 onwards.
The OSMI Initiators:
Monitor progress and provide feedback on near-term OSMI goals and priorities
Resolve issues and manage risks
Approve the initiation of working groups
Manage the consultation on the Principles of Open Science Monitoring
