Accueil » OSMI Board meeting: updates from June 2026

On June 24, 2026, the Open Science Monitoring Initiative (OSMI) Board convened online to discuss ongoing projects, working group updates, and strategic partnerships. The meeting started with a warm welcome to new Board members, Kristina Vrouwenvelder (WG3 Co-chair) and Kornelia Tzinova (representative of UNESCO at the OSMI Board).

Key highlights included:

  • Working group updates: WG1 finalised its survey report, WG2 expanded its dataset of monitoring initiatives, WG3 advanced on indicator frameworks and case studies, and WG4 worked on a reply to a call for projects.
  • New initiatives: Discussions began on launching a working group on Technical Specifications that would support the Principles of Open Science Monitoring. The discussion highlighted the need to provide guidance to various stakeholders to assist with the implementation of open science monitors. A small group of volunteers from the Board will be convened to draft a roadmap for these technical specifications and present it to the next Board Meeting.
  • Terms of reference: The Board worked on a first draft of the OSMI terms of reference. A second draft reflecting the Board’s concerns will be presented at the next meeting.
  • OSMI Vision: The Board emphasised the need for a clear, community-driven and aligned vision. A small task force will draft a proposal for the next meeting.
  • Strategic partnership: The Board agreed to engage in a strategic partnership with FORM, the Forum for Open Research in MENA, to broaden OSMI’s audience in the Arab region.
  • Next steps: The Board will reconvene on November 18th and 19th.

With productive discussions and clear action items, OSMI continues to drive progress in open science monitoring. Stay tuned for updates! https://groupes.renater.fr/sympa/subscribe/osmi-newsletter
