The OSMI 2026 plenary took place on 30 September; on the agenda were an update from the Coordination Committee, the latest news from the working groups, and the launch of two consultations!
The OSMI Coordination Committee started with a presentation of a year of OSMI activity: formalisation of the OSMI Steering Board, follow-up of the working groups, multiple translations of the Principles of Open Science Monitoring, strategic partnership with FORM… And an important next step for the Principles of Open Science Monitoring, which will be presented to the UNESCO Executive Board.
The OSMI working group co-chairs shared their latest news:
- WG1 published its report on Scoping the needs of Open Science monitoring
- WG2 is analysing its community-curated dataset with 90 OS monitoring initiatives
- WG3 is drafting two outputs: case studies of scholarly content providers who are undertaking open science monitoring & a report on indicators of open science monitoring
- WG4 is planning a white paper on the conditions required for scholarly outputs to function as computational inputs for Open Science monitoring and a hackathon of dataset mentions with the Barcelona Declaration, COMET and DataCite
