OSMI needs you! Tell us what you think of the Principles of Open Science Monitoring self-assessment grid

OSMI is pleased to share the first version of a self-assessment grid to help initiatives evaluate how well they comply with the twenty Principles of Open Science Monitoring, and we invite your feedback.

Since the release of the Principles of Open Science Monitoring in July 2025, OSMI has received many requests for a tool like this. Interest has been confirmed by at least three self-assessments published by Finland, Ireland and PLOS since then.

OSMI created a dedicated task force, and today we can finally share the first version of the self-assessment grid.

Whether you are considering using the grid, or have already carried out your own self-assessment, we would love to hear from you. Is the grid working well? Is it easy to understand? Is anything missing? Should it be presented differently?

This proposal is open for consultation from 30 September to 1 December 2026. After this date, all feedback will be analysed to improve the grid, and the final version will be published in 2027.

Note that your responses are anonymous.
